To take advantage of the cheaper entry fees for the JK relay I need to have entered teams by 15/2/15. If you would like to be included in a team and have not already let me know that you are interested then please do so before 8/2/15. Shortly after this entry is made we will need to make entries for the British Relays so if you want to be entered for both please say so Please contact Quentin now if you would like to enter either or both events, giving him your 2015 age group, BOF membership number and SI number.
Entry to both events is £10 for adults and £5 for juniors, to be paid to the club captain on or before the day. It is not refundable if you are unable to attend.
After this date further teams can be entered but at a cost of £9 extra per team and the team combinations may be less flexible.

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Lancaster Street League event

Well the promised snow held off more or less and the new venue proved a success with a roaring woodburner to ease the winter chills. RouteGadget is now ready for your routes here. There was a jacket left near to the registration table, thought to belong to one of tonight's competitors. If this is yours please contact Rowena Browne.

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) North West Night League nail-biting finish

The North West Night League was settled in the dying moments of the MDOC event held at Irwell Valley on Saturday night. In the end a difference of just 18 seconds was enough to give Heather Gardner (SROC) the overall league title as well as W19-39. Only one point behind was Quentin Harding (SROC) whose rare error at number 17 cost him the overall crown, though he won M40+. Full results table here.

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Ann Clarke

We have learned that Ann Clarke (founder member) is critically ill in a nursing home in Lostock Hall. She has, apparently, a terminal cancer diagnosis. She is currently in need of rest after a recent bout of visitors. The address is St Catherine's Hospice, Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall, PR5 5XU Tel 01772-629171. Peter Knott

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Street League tables

The latest league tables are now on the web from here. Two points a) there are now discards for a number of people - please check that I have discarded the correct one and b) can I remind people that their BOF age is as for last year ie when the series started - please check that the age in the Age Adjusted table is correct as it is the one I am using, whatever it says in the results. With reference to that I suspect that John Britton has some elixir of youth as he started as an M60 at Blackburn, was an M55 by Clayton and an M35 by Ormskirk - is this a new self handicapping system? Any queries should be sent to me. Bob

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Club awards 2014

Trophies and awards for performances in the year just ended were presented during the social event at Brinscall on Saturday. The overall Men's trophy went to Quentin Harding and the Women's to Helen Ockenden. The National & Provincial Shield for exceptional services to the club was awarded to Tony Marlow.

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Ormskirk results

Apologies for the delay in getting the results on the web. They can be found here. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend but there were a good number of hardy souls prepared to take on the windy conditions. If you have any queries then please pass them on to Norman Hall as I won't be able to deal with them in the French Alps. I will endeavour to update the league tables by the end of the week. Now on to Lancaster. Bob

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Oceania 2015 success

Miriam Rosen was victorious in class W65A in the multi-day Oceania competition held in Tasmania recently. With two first places out of five races and with 4 out of 5 to count Miriam was fortunate that an error near the end of the Middle race only resulted in that result being discarded. Here is a link to the results. David Rosen was placed 16th in M60A.

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) 2015 Club Handicap

More than 30 hardy souls braved the wintry conditions at White Coppice today. Julian's planning and Dick's handicapping proved successful once again, as Oliver Ball just made it home first, very closely followed by Brenda Rutter and Beth Davey. The faster runners with longer courses not quite catching up. Results may be viewed here, and RouteGadget is here.

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) 2015 Club Handicap

The most eagerly awaited event of the year comes round again on Saturday 17th January at White Coppice, near Chorley. All club members are welcome, indeed encouraged, to take part as all will have an equal chance of winning the coveted Handicap Trophy due to the fiendish handicapping skills of Dick Collins. The area has just been re-mapped by Julian Lailey who is also setting the courses. Afterwards we will meet up for the annual prize giving and social, so please bring something for the Jacob's Join meal. More details are on the fixture list.

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Join SROC on Strava

Strava is one of several on-line resources that help to record and analyse your training. One of the features is to set up a "club" so that you can share details of runs and perhaps gain motivation from seeing what others are doing. You can join the SROC Strava club here. Runs posted to the club are displayed on this website on the left, below the weather forecast. If you aren't already a Strava user it takes moments to set up an account either by computer or phone app, and you can then upload all your activities!

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) What a great start to the New Year!

The 14th New Year Cracker was held on the windswept slopes of Traitor's Gill (Caton Moor) today. The surprisingly high ambient temperature did little to warm runners who suffered in the gales and torrential rain. If you weren't there you missed a true test of your mettle. The dire conditions meant that it proved impossible to hold the prize giving as planned, so class winners will be able to collect their prizes at a future SROC event. Congratulations to Ed Calow and Heather Hepponstall, winners of the open classes. Ed was the only runner to visit all 28 controls. Veteran winners were Janet Nash and David Rose, Older Juniors: Helen Ockenden and Connor McGurk. Helen placed third overall and was actually top woman but you're only allowed one prize! Younger Junior Men winner was Josh Sammon. Well done to all finishers for lasting the course. Results are posted here and RouteGadget is ready to go here.
