SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Autumn Series event 2 Williamson Park, Lancaster

Come and try Orienteering in spectacular Williamson park. There will be a pleasant easy course for all that will take in a full loop of the park's most interesting and unusual features. Full guidance given at the start so if this is your first time we can help to get you going.

The park has steep slopes, crags, open woodland and hidden clearings and these are featured in a longer technical course of 4.7km. See fixtures list for more details.

The final takes place on Sunday 16th October at Tankerlsey Wood near Sheffield, initial details can be found here. The club will subsidise the entries such that you pay £7 for adults and juniors are entered for free.
All club members are encouraged to take part but entries must be made through the club captain. If you have not told the club captain already and would like to run in the event then please e-mail the Club Captain with your Name, Age group, BOF number and SI number. Entries to me by Sat 1st Oct at the latest. Help us make an earnest defence of our 2015 title. Quentin

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) November weekend

Entries are now open for the November Lake District Orienteering weekend, jointly organised by SROC and LOC. The weekend comprises a middle distance event at Sandscale  Haws on the Furness peninsula (LOC) on Saturday 12th November and a long distance event organised by SROC at Torver High Common near Coniston on Sunday 13th November. Entries can be made at www.fabian4.co.uk.

We are also looking to recruit as many SROC members as possible to help at the Sunday event. All helpers will get a 50% entry discount. For your discount code and to offer help please contact the organiser (Tony) at antonymarlow@gmail.com.

All members are reminded that the 2016 AGM will be held at Garstang Fire Station from 7.30 pm on Thursday 22nd September. All are welcome, please bring some food to add to the Jacob's Join social after the formalities have been attended to.

Today's Eaves Wood event treated a mixture of newcomers and seasoned orienteers from around the region to glorious weather and the challenges of navigating without paths on the map! Results are on-line here.

Following our successful qualifying round at Timble, we are soon to compete in the Final on Sunday 16th October at Tankerlsey Wood near Sheffield. All club members are encouraged to take part but entries must be made through the club captain. After the many SROC successes at foreign and UK holiday events over the Summer we now return to our own club's more local series of events. The first is at Eaves Wood near Silverdale on Saturday 10th September and will offer courses for beginners and experienced orienteers. More details here.
