British Orienteering Championships

Congratulations to Quentin Harding, M50L Champion at today's BOC held at Brown Clee. Also in first place were Michael Finch (M12B) and Philip Gager (M70S). Second places for Finlay Johnson (M14A), Julian Lailey (M70L) and David Rosen (M60S). Becca Rooke was 3rd on W21L. Full results here.

Spring Series final scores

Final league tables for the 2016 Spring Series are now available here. Congratulations to the category winners, especially Beth Davey with an almost perfect 88 points from three events, and Finlay Johnson who won the Men's Open M16-M55 category while still an M14.

Worden Park Spring Series event

The third and last event in the 2016 Spring Series was held in pleasant spring weather in Worden Park, Leyland today. Competitors on the technical course had two free order sections and a map exchange to contend with, which allowed only the more interesting parts of the park to be used. Results are on-line here, RouteGadget will follow later.

CST Rescheduled for Saturday 4th June

Our CompassSport Trophy round that was postponed last April has been set for Saturday 4th June. Revised details of this event can be found HERE.
All club members are encouraged to take part but entries must be made through the club captain. The club will subsidise the entries such that you pay £5 for adults and juniors are entered for free.
If you were committed to running in the event in April then please e-mail me to confirm whether you can still run or not. If you were not in the original team and would like to be involved then please e-mail me your name, age group, BOF number and SI number. E-mail the Club Captain by Wednesday 18th May. Quentin

SROC Northern Champions

Congratulations to Quentin Harding and Brian Jackson, victorious in the M50 & M70 classes at yesterday's Northern Championships held at Mulgrave Woods near Whitby.

Club Picnic

The SROC club picnic will take place this year on Saturday May 14. Please note this change from recent years as the July date found many people unable to attend. The venue is Traitors Gill on Caton Moor amongst the wind generators. However the picnic itself will be nicely sheltered in a nearby wood. Mass Start score event at 2pm. Odds and evens or normal score. Please bring food and drink to share as well as crockery and cutlery and chairs and/or picnic mats.

Coaching and the Spring Series

Saturday 23rd April sees the third and final event of the SROC Spring Series at Worden Park, Leyland (see fixtures tab for further details). Coaching - free to Club Members (others £2 per person) - is being offered before event at 11.30AM (lasting 1 hour, so you will be ready to take part in the event itself). The coaching is aimed at beginners/improvers and will include bearings, distance estimation and pacing.
If you would like to come to the coaching please let Martyn and Sue know on Martyn@mroome.myzen.co.uk by close Sunday 17th April at the latest, and preferably right away!

North West Night League

With the night league season ending we can see the final league tables. Congratulations to Quentin Harding and Heather Roome, top man and woman. Quentin scored the maximum 120 points and Heather scored 117 which beat all the other men!
