Summer Sprints scores
Scoring for this year's series will follow the method used for several years now. Points will be awarded for performance at each event with 1st place being worth 60 pts, 2nd 55 pts then 51, 48, 46, 45, 44 down to 1 point. Positions will be judged by your best three scores from all five events. Planners/organisers receive a "bonus" (counts as one of their best 3) equal to the average of their best two scores, to make up for having to miss one event and as a reward for all their hard work! There will once again be seven categories: Men's and Women's Open, Junior Men and Women (14-), Vet Men and Women (55+) and groups/pairs.Scores after the first event are here. Don't miss the next event at Salt Ayre/Scale Hall on 21st May. Paul is planning an additional Final course for younger juniors, to avoid the faster road crossings. Lost property: a red fleece top left behind at Williamson Park. Contact Chris Roberts if it's yours.
Major event successes
In all the kerfuffle over the JK 2019 results we missed applauding three SROC champions. Miriam Rosen W70L, Heather Roome W35L and David Roome M35L. Full results are linked from the JK results page. (Note: not a secure website). In the more recent British Orienteering Championships the Roomes were again victorious, with Heather and David becoming British Champions in W35 and M35. Dick Collins was placed second in M75S and rising star Ellie Todhunter was third in W10A. On relay day our Men's Short team of Iain Embrey, Heather Roome and David Roome were first and in the M60 class Martyn Roome, Paul Ferguson and Andy Quickfall came home second. Congratulations to all SROC competitors in these events. BOC results are here.

Williamson Park sprint event
The new SROC Summer Sprint Series got off to a cracking start in the familiar (to some!) surroundings of Williamson Park in Lancaster. A mixture of old and new hands enjoyed the courses set by John Ockenden. These events, which consist of two short courses back to back, are suitable for all. The next will be at Salt Ayre, also in Lancaster, on 21st May. Results for Williamson Park are here. League scores will be calculated and posted soon.
