Spook O success
This years Spook O hailed a number of firsts: first event on a new map and new area, first time mid week, first use of SI for this event. Despite the damp conditions a good number of family groups and a few seasoned orienteers showed up ready for the mass start at Silverhelme Scout Camp. The mainly wooded area was tricky with all the paths obscured by fallen leaves, but the trickiest part was avoiding the roving vampire (Mark Edwards) who could put a hex on you, only to be lifted by a visit to the wise wizard (Quentin Harding)! A complicated rocks and crags control choice added to the fun, and mapper and planner Julian Lailey was congratulated for his efforts. The winner managed to get all controls within the allotted time and scooped the top prize. Other prizes were awarded for first family and best costume. Results are here.
