SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) RouteGadget for street league events

RouteGadget for street events is s little different to "normal" O events where there is a file containing everyone's split times uploaded at the same time as the map. (Then all you do is pick your name from the list and draw your route). So here are some simple step by step instructions for adding your route to a street event RG. (Yes, I have been asked how it's done).

1. Select the relevant event(!)
2. Check the "Draw your route" box (top right)
3. Click on the arrow next to "Choose class/course" and select Score" (this is the only course available for these events. i.e. everyone is classesd as being on the same course regardless of actual time limit chosen. This enables direct comparison between, say, the best on 60 and 75 mins)
4. Click in the box below which will say "Your name" and replace the text with er. . your name.
5. Now this is the slightly more tricky bit. Click in the box just to the left of your name marked "fin". Enter your actual time taken (if you remember, otherwise your target time). Use the format illustrated which is mmmss. i.e., if you took one hour 52 seconds enter 6052. You must put double zero (for the seconds) if entering an exact number of minutes.
6. Now you can start to draw your route. You may have to move the map to see the start/finish To do this simply drag using the left mouse button.
7. To draw, just click on each point where your route changes direction. You may need to do this several times for a long bend, or quite spread out on a straight bit of road. You will see a red line starting to follow your route. IMPORTANT try not to click too close to the start for your first click as RG may think you have finished. I try to separate the start and finish a bit to reduce this minor problem. Don't worry if you find that the animation doesn't work for you, this will be why. I can fix it by an edit of your route file, but that's not something I want to be doing on every route drawn!
Or uncheck the snap on/off box at top right of the screen before starting to mark your route. That should avoid any problems with the animation.
8. If you make a mistake there is an undo button (top right) which will take you back a click at a time.
9. When you have got back to the finish, add any comments you want to make (optional), then remember to click the big "Save Route" button.
10. Now you can choose your route, or others', from the larger box on the middle right, and view routes or animation.
The above was first posted to the old SROC message board in 2008 but is still relevant. Chris Roberts
