Club picnic reminder

Don't forget the postponed club picnic is on this weekend. Come to Arnside Knott this Sunday for a mass start event at 2.30. Bring food to share and picnic stuff for after the run. See SROC fixtures info for further details.

Harvester Relays

SROC fielded a handicap team in the 'B' race at the overnight Harvester Relays held in Blakeholme in the early hours of this morning. Our picture shows Julian Lailey completing the long leg 5 after Alex Finch, Iain Embrey, David Rosen and Chris Roberts had run.

Summer Sprints Series finale

Details for the final event in the current series are now available here. Series prize winners will declared soon after the last finisher staggers into the bar where drinks will be available. The series league table after four events is also available.

Halton Sprint results

All the best urban events have a bit of controversy and last night's event at Halton was no different! With apologies for the delay, the results are now on line and may be viewed from the Results Page.

The results of the orienteering event put on for the Lancashire Women’s Institute on Wednesday 14th June at Williamson Park, Lancaster are here. Very well done to everyone, you certainly seem to enjoy yourselves and we certainly did! Latest Sprint league table

The Summer Sprint Series league table has been updated after the first three events. There are still two events to go: Tuesday 20th June at Halton and the series finale in Stanley Park on 4th July.

Next SROC event

With the Picnic having been postponed until next month the next event will be number 4 in the Sprint Series, to be held at Halton near Lancaster on 20th June. See details. Please note that, like other similar urban events, the courses will only be open to those of 16 or over on the day. However younger juniors may still take part if accompanied by an adult. the venue will be the Centre Coffee Shop which is being opened for our benefit, so please partake of some refreshment!

Support the GB Team!

The external funding for the GB Orienteering Team has largely disappeared this year, so the GB Team going to the World Orienteering Championships in Estonia at the end of the month needs help from the orienteering membership. 

The team has set up a 'My Donate' page. Money donated goes to the Orienteering Foundation, which is a well-established charity. It has agreed to pass on the money raised through this page to help meet the expenses of the team and hence reduce the amount the team members have to pay themselves. Money donated can attract gift aid, can be anonymous, can carry an encouraging message, and in addition it will be accounted for in end of year accounts so donors can get good feedback

Club Picnic postponed

Please note that the annual SROC club picnic due to have been held on Saturday June 10, has been postponed until Sunday July 2 due to a number of clashing events. All other details remain the same and details are on the club fixtures list.

Latest sprint series results

Today's sprint event, the third in the series (out of five), was held in rather blustery conditions but with little of the promised rain to contend with. The Scale Hall and Salt Ayre map was extended to the neighbouring Grosvenor Park estate for this event which gave a little extra variety for series regulars. Results including RouteGadget may be accessed via the Results page. Congratulations to Finlay Johnson for his overall win.
