SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Calling all club relay runners

A message from the SROC Club Captain: "Can you let me know if you are intending to enter either the JK or British Relay Champs. The earlier we can enter the teams the cheaper it will be. As with all Club Relays your entry will be subsidised by the club. I won't be at the JK this year so I would like a volunteer to organise relays with me." Contact Mark on captain@sroc.org

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Kikham 26th January results

Results for the most recent Night Street League event may be viewed here. It was certainly a night to be running 60 rather than 75 minutes, judging by the scores. That's all part of the challenge with score events! Don't forget the next event is only a few days away and is at Helmshore, maybe a bit hillier than last week?

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Save our forests campaign

If you count yourself among the 75% of people who are said to oppose the government's plans to sell publicly owned woodlands and forests in England (as opposed to the 6% who support them), then you might like to come to Grizedale at 1 pm on Sunday (30th January). More details at www.savelakelandsforests.org.uk where you will also find a link to a petition against the sell off. With thanks to LOC for advertising this rally.

Latest raw score and age adjusted tables may be viewed here. There are still four more events this season to improve your overall score, so don't miss them! The St Anne's event hosted the "Tower Trophy", awarded for the highest age adjusted points scored at a nominated event closest to Blackpool Tower each season, with the proviso that anyone may only win the trophy once. The results for this side competition are appended to the league tables, and we can announce that this year's winner of this coveted trophy is Zoe Harding.

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Northern Night Champs - weather update

An inspection of the area today has revealed slightly wetter than normal ground conditions but nothing to prevent a good evening's orienteering. However strong winds and heavy rain are forecast for all day on Saturday so competitors have been advised that it is compulsory to carry (or wear) a cagoule as well as a whistle. We also strongly advise carrying a spare torch, and to dress appropriately for the conditions. There are still a few maps available on all courses and on-line entries will not close until 9pm this evening. EOD will be available as well and registration opens at 5pm on Saturday.

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) New Year Cracker!

The 10th Cracker went off with a bang today at Arnside Knott. Our picture shows that many chose careful study of the map after the start, since a tricky challenge had been set: odds or evens first? Nearly everyone remembered that they would have points deducted for controls taken out of order. Prizes were awarded to: Quentin Harding, Heather Gardner (M&W open), James McGurk, Hannah Cleary-Hughes (M&W14-), Jonathan Crickmore, Bryony Harding (M&W18-), Simon Filmore, Jane Anthony (M&W55+). Matti & Bethan Holt were awarded best Newcomers but missed the prize giving. They should contact the organiser to claim a prize. Full results are here, RouteGadget is here.
