The weather is set fair for this year's club championships race in Low Park Wood near Kendal. All club members are invited to attend as you can be sure that the handicapper has determined exactly the right challenge to ensure that everyone has an equal chance to win! Afterwards the social and prizegiving will be held in Levens Institute, just a few minutes drive from Low Park. Please bring something to eat to add to the Jacob's Join meal. Tea, coffee and juice will be provided.

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) New Year Cracker Thanks

A big than you to all the people/organisations that enabled this event to happen:
To the National Trust (especially Gemma Wren) and Mr Barber, as landowners.
And to Holgates Caravan Parks, who opened up their touring caravan site for the parking and their superb toilets, especially for the event. We collected £148 on the gate which Holgates have asked to be donated to the charity Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Please contact me Martyn@mroome.myzen.co.uk to arrange collection at a suitable event. We promise not to eat the prizes in the meantime!

Note: Colin Hicks SOC and Simon Filmore LOC have been returned the points they lost in the draft results, due to understandable confusion over the missing controls! This issue does not affect anyone else.
Finally, I would like to thank all those runners, including several SROC, who gave up their maps and runs to others. And to those that went round as a pair or with less than the desired number of maps in their group. Truly a case of loaves and fishes!

SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) New Year Cracker results

We must apologise for a couple of problems affecting both the event and the results for the New Year Cracker at Arnside Knott today. We hope that anyone who kindly donated their map after we discovered there was a record number of entries (we had 25% extra maps available, over and above previous similar events) has received a refund and can relax in the warm glow of having made a sacrifice to help others. The very strange and unexpected theft of three controls, only two of which were detected and replaced before the start, caused an enigma for the organisers. Some people claimed to have been to 120 only to waste time looking for something that wasn't there. Unfortunately not everyone so affected mentioned this, so there is no clear and fair way to allow points for anyone affected. Then we had a minor equipment failure at download which contributed to the download queue and meant that we didn't capture the correct course at that point. This has therefore delayed the publishing of results. Draft results are now on-line here, and these will be updated with any late corrections tomorrow. If you spot any obvious anomalies please contact Martyn Roome. A list of prize winners will also be published tomorrow.
