SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Yarrow Valley, Chorley mid-week series

Results for Wednesday's event are on-line here, and RouteGadget is here. This, the first in the series, was the work of guest planner/organiser Darren Baker.

After a three year absence of planning anything other than the winter Street League, I felt it was time that I put something back into this great sport. A chance conversation with Bob Nash in May led me to planning and co-organising the event on Wednesday. It was nice to see so many eager new faces at the start. If you enjoyed yourselves then tell others. If there were some aspects that you didn't enjoy then let us know. It was also great to see a large contingent from SELOC and SROC, thanks for coming. We were particularly grateful to Jane Anthony and Karen Nash for agreeing to shadow two of the novices around their course, they were very grateful and to Karen Quickfall for doing the registration. Special thanks for help goes to Bob Nash, who guided me through what I needed, gathering the kit together and for being a massive help on the day. I hope everyone enjoyed the courses, the Technical was meant to, and I felt did, deliver something different. Thank you all for your kind comments at the finish, the comments are always much appreciated as makes the effort worthwhile. Other special thanks goes to Elaine Sutton, for assisting yesterday, plus accompanying me on the area on a very wet day a fortnight ago that ended in a cold deluge from the heavens and a thorough soaking. Thank you as always to the other control collectors who volunteered to stay behind in fading light to make my job so much easier, Norman Hall, Mark Sammon and Karen Nash. Despite some long hours on the project, it has been very rewarding and I look forward to assisting SROC on other similar events in the near future. Look forward to seeing you all again and more at Duxbury Park next Wednesday. Darren Baker
