SROCkite.gif (2521 bytes) Autumn Series 1, Beacon Fell

Around 50 orienteers enjoyed a warm and sunny day of orienteering at the Beacon Fell event with orange, green and score courses available.  The course took in a mix of heathland and forest, with some fine views from the park summits across the Bowland Hills to the North East, and over to Blackpool and the Fylde coast in the west.

Conditions were mostly dry underfoot (except for the marshes!), however, the late summer undergrowth made for slower going away from the paths.  Most participants completed clean runs, however, a small number of controls were missed due to a couple of mapping/placement ambiguities - apologies to those who lost time here.

Great to see some new orienteers trying the sport for the very first time, as well as more experienced orienteers and also some enthusiastic juniors who completed a more technical course for the first time - very well done!  We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and that we might see you again at future events.

Thank you for coming and to all the helpers on the day. Michael Hendry
