The weather may have tried to dampen the spirits but for those SROC members who made the short journey to Yorkshire this was a true weekend of top class orienteering competition. The Day 1 Sprint saw victory in M50 for Quentin Harding and 2nd in W60 for Jane Anthony.
Other top ten placings were achieved by Mary Ockenden (7th W55), Miriam Rosen (7th W65), Julian Lailey (8th M70) and Mike Johnson (10th M55).
In the main JK competition held over Days 2 & 3 Quentin was again victorious in M50L. Wins also for Philip Rutter (M20L) and Martyn Roome (M60S). 2nd placed were Julian Lailey (M70L), Rebecca Rooke (W21S) and Sue Roome (W60S). Other notable results: Karen Quickfall (3rd W50S), Lucie Todhunter (5th W35L), Miriam Rosen (5th W65L), James Todhunter (7th M35S), Brian Jackson (8th M70L), Rebecca Harding (10th W21E) and Mike Johnson (10th M55L).
The relays saw some good individual performances but sadly no medals for any team. Best placed SROC team was in the Ultravets class. Julian Lailey, Brian Jackson and Jane Anthony came 4th.
